The words "foreach" and "end" are not from (Bourne) shell's syntax
but from (Tenex) csh.
Command substitution does not work with typographical single quotes
but with backquotes:
[`] U+0060 GRAVE ACCENT
#!/bin/tcsh
foreach auxfile (bu*.aux)
echo bibtex "`basename $auxfile .aux`"
bibtex `basename $auxfile .aux`
end
or better
#!/bin/tcsh
foreach auxfile (bu*.aux)
set afile = "`basename $auxfile .aux`"
echo bibtex $afile
bibtex "$afile"
end
should work, even if the file names have spaces (without you can
remove the QUOTATION MARKs).
