[OS X TeX] Problem to install new packages to my Latex distribution.

Hi,
I have saved the files on my local harddrive in usr/local/teTeX/share/
texmf/glossary . I don't rarly know which TeX distribution I use.
It's Tex2 as far as i know. Is there anywere I can find that out? My
skills with the terminal are varry limeted,
