[OS X TeX] bibliography

Hi,
I've not had to use a bibliography before and suddenly I have to have  
one in a document (they are calling for mla style, but with no  
reference to a professor since this isn't applicable) ready for  
upload by this Sunday evening. Can anyone recommend a few top choices  
of reading material (preferably that might be in /texlive/doc) to get  
me going. I prefer to use gwTex and Texshop.
