Actually, plain vanilla TeXShop does not always notice changes,  
particularly but not always when the change is a small paste. Not  
often but not always though and I haven't had the courage to take  
time and investigate a bit. My workaround is to type xxx, typeset— 
which always works—and then delete xxx—which always works. I am  
pretty sure that yyy and zzz work equally well.
