[OS X TeX] AFM files: needed?

Dear all,
So, I've inherited the original white G3 iBook previously belonging to my
beloved. It's a sweet little machine that I plan to use for those
writing-papers-in-cafes moments. I've installed TeXShop and the
current-standard MacTex TeXLive on it. Only trouble is, there's not a whole
lot of free hard drive space on it. I've deleted a bunch of the
documentation (I can always read it on my main machine) and the fonts/ovf
and fonts/ovp directories, since I don't use Omega or Context or whatever
uses these. I could save another 100Mb or so by deleting the AFM files in
the /fonts/ directory (i.e. /usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf-dist/fonts/afm).

Is anyone able to confirm my recollection that if you have TFMs, VFs,
PFA/PFB and FD files, you don't need AFMs? I could really use the extra
space.

Many thanks in advance,
Luci
