Gary,
A problem with the current MacTeX packages is that they don't run
mktexlsr or updmap following installation. Hence:
- Because mktexlsr is not run, any local addition you may have put
inside /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/ won't be seen.
- Because updmap is not run, any map file you may have added yourself
(through updmap(-sys) --enable Map whatever.map) and which is indeed
present inside updmap.cfg won't be taken into account: the global map
files psfonts.map, pdftex.map etc. installed by MacTeX don't
correspond to your customized updmap.cfg (most likely /usr/local/
texlive/2007/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg).
Because of that, I run mktexlsr and updmap after each TeXLive-2007
reinstall:
sudo mktexlsr
sudo -H updmap-sys
I'm not sure that is the problem you're facing, but that's a
possibility.
