Your TeX install seems to be the deprecated teTeX-based gwTeX i-
Package. With a recent install, namely the current TeXLive-based
gwTeX i-Package, you should just use, instead of the above (whether
you're on PowerPC or Intel processor):
/usr/texbin/pdflatex
See also the various MacTeX packages at <http://www.tug.org/~koch/
NewPackages.html>. For example:
<http://www.tug.org/~koch/gwTeX.dmg> would provide the same
functionality as teTeX, using Gerben Wierda's new gwTeX distribution
<http://www.tug.org/~koch/TeXLiveMTS-2006.dmg> would provide the same
functionality as teTeX, using TUG's TeXLive distribution
