Howdy,
That works too. Oh... you can leave off the . in .bib,
kpsewhich --show-path=bib
and it works too. Lots of ways to reach the same goal and you learn
more and more of them as time goes on.
By the way, the output of these commands has some path items that
start with !!; these are searched using the ls-R files generated by
running texhash (or mktexlsr --- synonyms). Also, some path items end
with //; with these items the search is in that directory as well as
sub-directories of that directory.
