[OS X TeX] \linenumbers and only half of the page

This is a nice feature -- thank you for teaching me a new trick.

Is there a way to arrange for the line numbers to appear in, say, 50%  
grey?

How about a way of numbering every 10th line?
(So that it is less distracting.)
