[OS X TeX] help with .pdf figures

My apologies for sending this again.  I'm using a statistical sofware program called R, which, among other 
things will provide wonderful graphics that can be saved as .pdf files. The syntax I am using is
   
 \begin{figure}[htbp]
    \centering
    \includegraphics[width=2in]{testplot.pdf}
    \caption{From R}
    \end{figure}

and I get a message telling me that the environment is undefined.
Any thoughts?
