virtualised operating systems to use the best multi-threaded software  
of all worlds! Checkout VMware Fusion and Parallels Desktop! (Leopard  
could be nice here, offering an easily reachable and dedicated  
desktop for each OS.) Learn GNU Emacs!


Bus and memory speeds are the bottlenecks. They won't widen, they  
stopped this years ago. So the use of multi-threaded software and  
large caches in a multi-processor environment promise acceleration.
