Neither can I.

I think we get Latin Modern by default with MacTex and gwTeX (via
i-Installer). Gerben says something about this; see somewhere in the mid
of the page, e.g. by searching for "Latin", at:

I myself used to use mathbbol for the double relation symbols. But now I
like much-much more the amssymb for this purpose, which results nice
notation for the natural numbers with the doubling in the mid pipe of N.
Alternatively, with mathbbol package mathbb provides double rel symbs,
including for N, but the doubling is on the left hand side pipe of N, and
it looks to me somewhat too sharpy and cubic...

Yes, to my eyes. And it is in too much contrast with the rest of the text
and math, while amssymb blends the symbols smoothly.
