There are better lists, e.g., the unix-porting list hosted by Apple
(see <http://lists.apple.com>). Your question deals more with
programming than TeX.

I may be misreading this, but on the surface, it appears that you are
trying to build for a 64-bit platform (and not a PowerPC-based
system). In any case, the proximate problem is that (for unclear
reasons) the build system seems to want to target a processor
architecture for which you don't have complete support (that's the
import of the libtool complaint).
That is exceeding strange. Is MikTeX supposed to build on Unix-like
systems?
