[OS X TeX] Unrecognized BibTeX Entries

Dear All,

Running BibTeX I received the following error:

This is BibTeX, Version 0.99c (Web2C 7.5.5)
The top-level auxiliary file: Horwich.aux
The style file: plainnat.bst
I found no \bibdata command---while reading file Horwich.aux
Warning--I didn't find a database entry for "Ross:1939nx"
Warning--I didn't find a database entry for "Geach:1958kx"
(There was 1 error message)

However, these entries are in my BibTeX file (located in ~/Library/
texmf/bibtex/bib). Any ideas about how to diagnose this problem?
Also, what is the \bibdata command? Is this something that is meant
to be automagically generated in running BibTeX?

Tia, Mark
