Paul's setup seems fairly complicated, unstable and, from the TeX
point of view, even dangerous: a mixture of Fink's TeX, Gerben
Wierda's TeX, of system-wide and per-user texmf trees. If at some
point the foo vs. foo-sys issue shows up, complete debacle is to be
expected.
In any case, the way Paul's setup is configured for now, launching
TeX from either TeXShop or the command-line means not knowing what
will happen and hoping for the best, with fingers crossed.
I think there is a specific Fink package (system-tetex <http://
pdb.finkproject.org/pdb/package.php/system-tetex>) designed to play
nice with Gerben's TeX i-Package. I would suggest uninstalling TeX
completely (on both the Fink and i-Installer sides), studying the
docs for Fink and gwTeX carefully, then reinstalling gwTeX, then
Fink's system-tetex, and only afterwards the additional font and its
support files; and also, of course, testing that the system works at
each intermediate step of the installation.
