Yes this is an issue that has been raised a few times already. As far
as I remember the conclusions of the discussions were: either to
convert from LaTeX to RTF using latex2rtf (it's a command-line
utility, there's an i-Package for it), then read the RTF with MS
Word; or to convert from LaTeX to HTML to Word (using either
latex2html, TeX4ht or Tth). In both cases you're most likely to have
to retype the formulae in Word, as they will be lost during during
the conversions.

Another possibility is to use OpenOffice (see <http://
www.openoffice.org/> or <http://www.neooffice.org/>) and OOoLaTeX
(see <http://ooolatex.sourceforge.net/>), then export the result to
DOC format. OOoLaTeX is an OOo plugin that adds the capability to
insert LaTeX equations in an OOo document: the equations are inserted
as PNG, EPS or EMF figures, with corrections for baseline alignment
of inline equations and with the LaTeX input for each equation saved
inside the corresponding figure file. Not sure that the equations
will survive the DOC export, though.
