Hi,
thanks for the clarification.
I'll try to move to xetex then.

the good thing is that the most vital package and the most likely to  
have been troublesome, qtree, has a new improved version with both  
DVI/PS and PDF, hallelujah!

although I suspect that being cowardly, I'll end up sticking with the  
current settings till I get my PhD :)
