[OS X TeX] TL installation fails

I had the same problem. One way I used to circumvent it was

1. Manually download the file by using the "Download & Inspect"  
button when the relevant line is selected in the "Pkg contents" view.
2. Click the "Install & Configure" button and the install should work

Voilà... Something is still amiss with the download mechanism.
