Found the problem! The two lines

fourier-mlb Fourier-Math-Letters-Bold <fourier-mlb.pfb
fourier-mlitb Fourier-Math-Letters-Bold-Italic <fourier-mlitb.pfb

were missing from my fourier.map file! Don't know why. Adding the  
lines and re-running

sudo updmap-sys

fixed it all up. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
