Some of the functionality is subtly hidden.
The navigation which you want is available under the ``Tags'' button
in the button bar.
Spell-checking is automagically transparent when you install cocoaspell
Shortcuts for different things can be enabled via various
enhancements of the Cocoa text system, either system-wide or specific
to TeXshop.
