[OS X TeX] TeXShop typesetting and macro questions

Hi all,

I have a couple questions about how TeXShop does things, and how I  
can write a macro to manipulate how TeX is called. I use pdfetex  
rather than TeX+dvips+gs.

My short question is: pdflatex takes the following option: '-jobname  
NAME', which sets the \jobname to NAME rather than taking it from the  
name of the TeX file. Is there a way to write an applescript macro in  
TeXShop that takes advantage of this? I can't quite see how to make  
TeXShop do this.

The longer version is:

My understanding is that the default pdfTeX script is 'pdflatex -- 
shell-escape'. This presumably gets called by the 'latex' and  
'latexinteractive' applescript commands. But these don't seem to  
allow for arguments to be passed to pdfTeX. Is that not right?

If I can't use 'latexinteractive', is there a way to call pdflatex  
from an applescript (without opening a Terminal window in the  
process) and have the TeX output go to the TeXShop console? I kind of  
doubt it.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
