Concerning the user symlink, I would like to suggest to have it in
~/Library/ instead of in ~/.  ~ is your living room, it is not a good
place for such files you would never double-click upon.  There is also
a risk the user throws it away or moves it.  In the Library it would
be safer and not be in the user's way.
