Howdy,

I put personal packages, updated packages to test, etc., in my
personal tree (~/Library/texmf/...) but much prefer to place fonts
and associated files in the texmf.local tree since I prefer using

sudo -H updmap-sys ...

when installing them. I used to do it all in my personal tree but ran
into trouble when other users wanted to use those fonts.
Good Luck,
