I am puzzled. I have the following:
{`The aim of this research' --- \emph{Note: the thesis does not itself
devise the solution (you did that) rather the thesis \emph{documents}
the solution}}
The text appears within a longtable environment. What is puzzling me is
that all the text following the em-dash is set in italics; I was
expecting the word 'document's to be set in Roman script owing to the
nested \emph commands.
I have tried the code in the main body of the document (ie outside the
longtable) and the effect is the same.
I think it may be a problem with gtamachoefler. I used the following
font setup:
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage{textcomp}
\usepackage{pifont,manfnt,dingbat}
\usepackage{gtamachoefler}
However, when I switched from hoefler to didot with gill sans for sf:
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage{textcomp}
\usepackage{pifont,manfnt,dingbat}
\usepackage{gtamacdidot}
\usepackage{gtamacgillsans}
The double \emph performs as it should
Any thoughts?
Paul
