First of all, let me join the other folks on this list and thank
Gerben for his
truly excellent work during the past six years - I think he deserves
our praise,
and the some. Installing TeX on a Mac with the i-Installer has been
quite effortless
and I am really sad about this news.
Looking at the future, I agree with Claus and Gary: in my humble
opinion, the best thing would be to have a
very comprehensive and complete TeXLive installation, augmented with
the gtafonts and other goodies that
Gerben gave us. Even on a laptop a 80 Gb hard drive is the bare
minimum, so I think we could afford having a really
complete installation. If someone has an old machine with little
disk space could still use the old i-packages,
which will not be obsolete so soon. Of course a custom installation
would be nice, but not crucial.
