[OS X TeX] Sideways

Has anyone got captions working in the "sideways" figure environment?

This:

   \begin{sidewaysfigure}[htbp]
   \centering
        \includegraphics[width=100mm]{./the_illustration.eps}
        \caption{This is the illustration.}
   \end{sidewaysfigure}
   
Does indeed place the illustration sideways correctly on the page, but
the caption remains horizontal. "\rotcation{the_caption}" does not
help either. I have a fresh fink installation of TeTeX.

Any help would be appreciated.
