[OS X TeX] LaTeXiT symbol pasted to Illustrator

Some symbols generated in LaTeXiT are not displayed correctly in
Illustrator. For example,

|\bar{B}|^2

compiled in "Display" mode, when dragged to Illustrator, it is all messed up.

|B|^2

however, shows up correctly.

Is there any way to work around this?
