According to a remark Gerben made: yes. But save first /usr/local/
teTeX/share/texmf.local – you might miss it once you might have to
return to teTeX. And it can't be retrieved completely from i-Packages
in case you added some (La)TeX packages or fonts from CTAN or
anywhere there. If you kept all additions in your own personal tree
then you don't need to care about it.
Did you also install CMSuper and LaTeX Updater i-Packages into TeX
Live (probably ConTeXt is not so important to you)?
You also could rename /usr/local/teTeX to "/usr/local/pretty fine
scrap!".
