Thanks for mentioning this, I had forgotten about it!

Could you report on your experience at compiling and using it? The  
instructions for compilation in the included README mention libcurl  
should be present and recent enough:

> It is required that libCURL is installed and usable, i.e.,

which seems to be the case at least on Tiger 10.4.6:

legimc11:~ brunovoisin$ which curl-config
/usr/bin/curl-config
legimc11:~ brunovoisin$ curl-config --version
libcurl 7.13.1

Some other libraries are mentioned:

> The package depends on the availability of pthreads libraries and

though I've no idea what this means.

Another question is compatibility with the design of gwTeX, namely  
with the use of /Library/teTeX/share/texmf.local/ and ~/Library/ 
texmf/. IIRC you're using a custom TeXLive-base design, isn't it?  
Given the explanations in the README:

it seems /Library/teTeX/share/texmf.local/ (made $TEXMFLOCAL by / 
Library/teTeX/texmf.cnf) is used by default, and that you can use ./ 
configure to set MIKTEX_INSTALLROOT to ~/Library/texmf if you so prefer.
