Does it work adding a space before the bullet (\ $\bullet$ for example)?

AFAIK, it is not really a bug in LaTeXit. The place used by the bullet 
glyph is certainly larger than the one declared in the metrics file.
This difference is advisable in most situations, except the one you 
want...
