[OS X TeX] Basic question on BibTex

Howdy,

You need a

\bibliography{yourbibfile}

where you want the bibliography to be inserted. In addition, after  
the first compile you need to run bibtex (Shft-Cmd-B in TeXShop) and  
then compile it twice to insert the bibliography and resolve the  
references.
