[OS X TeX] Using i-Installer

TeXShop, and the other GUI applications are separate enteties,  
separate from i-Installer that is. If they receive updates, just  
update the application, like you would with any other application.

The engine that is used by TeXShop and the other GUI applications is  
managed by i-Installer. The good news is that most updates aren't  
that big.

1) In Extras > Installers & Updaters > MacTeX i-Packages on the  
image, you'll find the packages that are used by i-Installer to  
update your engines. Copy this folder to you hard-drive

2) Start i-Installer

3) In the preferences of i-Installer, on the Locations tab, select  
the folder you copied in step 1 for the "Remotely Opened i-Packages  
Default Save Directory".

4) From the i-Package directory, select "Open Updated packages".

5) It is likely that several windows will open, from packages that  
have received updates since the MacTeX image was created.

6) It is porbably advisable to read the i-Installer help at this stage.
