[OS X TeX] regexp for matching entire footnotes

Egrep understands this simple and *greedy* expression:

	\\footnote\{[^{]*.*\}

In GNU Emacs isearch-*ward-regexp works only without \ in front of  
{ or }. Could be TeXShop works alike.
