[OS X TeX] Texshop's console

I noticed an inconsistent behavior with texshop's console. I have set  
the preference to "Show console when error occurs" but the console  
doesn't always come out of hiding: with an error such as \overbar  
instead of \overline, then the console shows up, as expected.  
However, if the error is a missing closing "}" in a fraction, the  
console remains hidden, even though typesetting stops.
