[OS X TeX] Figure across pages

Two reasons why I haven't done this. The first is that I want to  
refer to each of the 6 subfigures using their labels in the text. I  
could hard-code it of course, but why should I?
But most importantly, my problem is not the numbering of those  
subfigures or the placing of them (at least not yet ;) ). So your  
suggestion wouldn't solve it. My problem is that I want to have the  
word continued *before* the :, i.e. it should really say: Figure 11,  
continued, because it really is the *same* group of figures. And it  
really shouldn't be that hard to do. I don't want two figures, I want  
one figure, continuing across multiple pages, just like I could do  
with a table.

But I guess I might have to bite the bullet. My \renewcommand idea  
break the references to those figures in the text.
