My understanding is that \input is a TeX primitive while \include is a 
LaTeX command which seems to be used essentially for including a chapter 
(it also puts a clear page.)

In a previous thread, "unwanted blank page", 1/3/06 11:54 AM, I listed 
the code for \include as given to me in circumstances described then.
