[OS X TeX] ImageMagick and i-Installer

I updated my i-stuff soon after the first v 6.2.5 version got included.

Is it safe or appropriate to update?  PNG is important to me.

I do not use TexShop, but I do use the imagemagick utilities.  Just now I 
did

convert a.eps a.png

When I ran display a.png

it came up okay, but when I did a left-click to get the menu, none of the 
buttons worked (File, Edit, View, ...)  Right-click on the image allowed 
me to get a menu so that I could quit.

When I viewd the image using safari, it came up blank.

The first problem (with display) does not seem related to the png library. 
Is the second one?  (convert to gif gave an image that worked just fine in 
safari)

OS 10.4.3 (did someone mention 10.4.4?) on a 2-year old 17" powerbook
