My *serious* recommendation is to place the TeX source in the file  
system hierarchy above all possible inclusions, i.e. in your  
SuperFolder, that you never have to address a file à la ../<bla>/ 
<blo>/<blu>.

If there are reasons not to follow this scheme, use Emacs, Terminal,  
or other tools to create real UNIX symbolic links (no Apple/Finder  
aliases) in the TeX source's working directory that point to these  
files out of secure reach.


To name all TeX files being included into the TeX source like  
<name>.sty is just an idea I did not work-out yet. It might work,  
because otherwise loading CLS or STY or DEF or other files from  
'above' the TeX sources directories would have to fail, too, because  
of these security restrictions (and if I understand Martin Costabel  
right it's only restrictive when TeX runs in a mood it has to produce  
AUX files from TeX sources). And since these CLS or STY files are  
searched with the help of a TeX extension, libkpathsea, they can be  
in any place inside the ~/Library/texmf tree. But again: if TeX would  
have to create AUX files from them the whole thing would have to fail  
once more!
