[OS X TeX] scripted lower case letters

You need to find a font providing lowercase calligraphic letters.  
Then TeX support for it.

The usual TeX solutions do not consider lowercase calligraphic. See  
<ftp://ftp.cam.ctan.org/tex-archive/documentation/symbols/math/ 
scriptfonts.pdf>.

Which means you may try using XeTeX, the fontspec package and one of  
the OS X calligraphic fonts. Apple Chancery is one, though you may  
have others depending on the fonts installed when putting software on  
your Mac (iWork, MS Office, etc.).

Another solution is the Euler Cursive font, though it's not really  
calligraphic. See /Library/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/doc/fonts/amsfonts/ 
amsfndoc.dvi.
