Same here. The only beamer.cls file I have is version 3.01 and it is at:
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/tex/latex/beamer/beamer.cls
I have updated recently and I always install using Expert mode and I
install most everything in the TeX i-Package.
