[OS X TeX] One question about reinstalling fonts

Sorry I have asked too many questions in one post.

I shall be simpler and more specific in this one.

Using Linotype Times Ten fonts, and following the Font Installation  
Guide by Philip Lehman I have made Times Ten fonts for LaTeX (family  
name ltt).

Everything works on the mac where the making of fonts, and the first  
installation, were done. In order to transfer the fonts in one move  
on my other mac, I had the idea of transferring all the texmf.local  
directory.

For some reason I cannot understand, things don't go well on the  
other mac. I get a "perfectly valid PDF file with the right amount of  
blank space for every glyph --- but I do not see a single glyph when  
looking at the PDF preview" [from the Font Installation guide, p. 19,  
only replacing DVI by PDF].

According to the log file, TeX looks for files as lttrj8r :

Warning: /usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdflatex  
(file lttrj8r): Font lttrj8r at 391 not found

All the files named lttrj8r, lttrij8r, lttrc8r,... do not exist, but  
the corresponding 8a files do exist, and the ltt.map file contains  
many lines as this one :

lttrj8r TimesTen-RomanOsF <8r.enc <lttrj8a.pfb " TeXBase1Encoding  
ReEncodeFont "

The llt.map file is correctly referenced in dvips/config/config.ps  
and so on (files have simply be copied from a location where  
everything works well). To be sure I have run sudo texhash, sudo  -H  
updmap.sys and sudo updmap --enable Map ltt.map. I have also  
reinstalled teTeX (expert installation), asking to check the  
mappings, and I could see that the ltt.map box was  checked.

Has somebody an idea of where the problem lies?

P.S. All the fourier settings were transferred in the same move, and  
everything works perfectly for fourier. To be sure that there were no  
ownership problems, I have made all the teTeX directory readable and  
writable by anyone.
