Originally, MacTeX installed three programs in /Applications. During the
testing period, someone suggested that it would be cleaner to put
them in
/Applications/TeX, so I did it. Apologies if folks think this was a
mistake.
I ddon't think there is much chance of conflict if others put things
in the folder.
MacTeX and i-Installer don't remove programs from the folder; they
only add
or update programs they know about.
