Nice and civilized is great, but I was trying to point out from long
internet group experience that it's all too easy for most of us to
forget that the net is subtly different from face-to-face
communication, and that the very value of the net -- connecting us to
many people we would never meet IRL -- creates a much more
challenging environment for communication, in that we miss cues about
peoples' assumptions and reactions that we are pretty good at getting
from facial expressions, tone of voice, and a shared social
environment. If my comments were not useful, I apologize, and let's
get back to TeX on OS X.
