Would it be considered bizarre to want to enter { } into the index?

I tried, of course without hope since MakeIndex is so literal,

    \index{\{\;\}}

for which I got

    " ";"

Variations on the theme didn't work any better and Companion 2 ed
doesn't seem to address the issue in its long chapter on Indexing.

Hopeful regards
