[OS X TeX] fonts into ~/texmf or into /texmf?

You can also proceed your personal fonts installation with updmap and  
~/Library/texmf, but you have to delete — or put them away on your  
desktop for example — your ~/Library/texmf/fonts/map and ~/Library/ 
texmf/web2c directories when you make an update of your TeX  
installation. After the update, the best is to reactive your fonts  
with the usual "updmap --enable Map something.map". New ~/Library/ 
texmf/fonts/map and ~/Library/texmf/web2c will be created. You can  
throw the old ones to the trash, then.

It may be more difficult that way, but it is the one to do if you are  
more than one TeX user for the same computer, and if you don't want  
to mess with others's font installation...------------------------- Info --------------------------
