Howdy,

I put together a package that has the skak package and the SkakNew  
fonts with installation instructions. It's available at my download  
site: <http://homepage.mac.com/herbs2/> as MacSkakNew.zip.

I haven't updated it to use the latest version of the skak package,  
which needs some other packages and updates to operate, but it works  
fine as is.

You might also be interested in a DropScript I put together from that  
site called DropPgn2Ltx.zip. It will convert .pgn chess game files  
into .tex files that use the skak package (actually set up to use a  
version of that package that uses the SkakNew fonts --- I called it  
skaknew.sty) and SkakNew fonts. It also comes with some documentation.
