My sigh had nothing to do with the page but with the fact that I was 
hoping that others had been in this situation (having to write both on a 
Mac and a wintel box) and that, rather than having to do the work 
myself, I would be able to "just do as [they] say" to get something 
compatible with TeXShop.

I am still hoping but if I decide not to go fishing during my office 
hours—i.e. use pencil and paper—but go out and set up what I need, I 
will take notes and submit them.
