[OS X TeX] New TeX i-Package in the *EXPERIMENTAL* i-Directory

This is still not the whole story. Even with that checkbox off, and  
with the preferences set as shown below, simpdftex does not work  
correctly for Plain TeX files, just generating nothing:

TeX Program:
simpdftex

LaTeX Program:
simpdftex latex

Save Postscript File:
unchecked



Indeed, simpdftex does not seem to work from the command line for  
plain tex files:
