CVSNT + a client:

A good client on Mac OS X:

Easy to install. Stable. Easy to use (learning curve might be deep if
you have no prior experience, but this is so for other editor with
built-in cvs implementation)
The advantage of this setup is that it enables multi-machine,
multi-platform version control.
