I believe there is a trial out for the MikTeX updater under UNIX
(i.e., it should be able to be compiled under OS X) but I haven't
tried that out. There has been talk here about just such an
application but it doesn't exist yet; especially with a GUI front end.
With TCOBrowser at least you wouldn't have to handle the files
yourself (Maybe(?) --- like a said I like to see what is happening.).
